Discover the exotic and flavorful taste of authentic Moroccan Argan Oil from Casablanca Market. Our Argan Oil is derived from the Argan trees that exclusively grow in the arid Moroccan desert strip between Marrakesh and Essaouira. These trees can endure harsh conditions, where other trees fail, and the process of extracting the oil is highly labor-intensive. Female farmworkers manually remove the fruit from the thorny tree branches, extract the kernel, and produce the precious oil. It takes approximately 15 hours of labor to produce one liter of Argan oil, which is why we are proud to support the native female workers who work tirelessly to make this nutty-flavored culinary delight.

At Casablanca Market, we are passionate about providing our customers with authentic, high-quality products that support the well-being of our communities. Explore our selection of Argan Oil and taste the unique flavors of Morocco.

Culinary Uses

Here are some recipe ideas that use culinary argan oil:

Moroccan salad dressing: Mix 1/4 cup of culinary argan oil, 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of honey, and 1 clove of minced garlic. Drizzle this dressing over a salad of mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, and olives.

Tagine with chicken or lamb: A tagine is a traditional Moroccan stew that is slow-cooked in a special pot. To make it, brown chicken or lamb in a large skillet, and transfer it to a tagine pot with sliced onions, chopped tomatoes, sliced carrots, and a pinch of saffron. Drizzle with 1/4 cup of culinary argan oil and 1/2 cup of water, cover the pot and cook over low heat for about 2 hours.

Couscous salad: Cook couscous according to the package instructions, then toss it with chopped parsley, mint, diced cucumber, sliced cherry tomatoes, and crumbled feta cheese. Drizzle with a dressing made from 1/4 cup of culinary argan oil, 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of honey.

Roasted vegetables: Toss your favorite vegetables (such as carrots, beets, or sweet potatoes) with 2 tablespoons of culinary argan oil and a pinch of salt and pepper—Roast in a 400-degree oven for about 30 minutes or until tender and golden brown.

Almond and honey dip: Mix 1/4 cup of almond butter, 2 tablespoons of culinary argan oil, 1 tablespoon of honey, and a pinch of salt. Serve with sliced apples, carrots, or crackers for a healthy and delicious snack.

Moroccan Spiced Roasted Chickpeas: Toss cooked chickpeas with 1 tablespoon of culinary argan oil, 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of paprika, and a pinch of salt. Roast in a 400-degree oven for 20-25 minutes or until crispy.

Carrot and Orange Salad: Combine shredded carrots with orange segments, chopped pistachios, and a dressing made from 1/4 cup of culinary argan oil, 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed orange juice, and 1 tablespoon of honey.

Grilled Eggplant: Brush slices of eggplant with 2 tablespoons of culinary argan oil and season with salt and pepper. Grill over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side or until tender.

Spiced Carrot Soup: In a large pot, sauté chopped onions and garlic in 2 tablespoons of culinary argan oil until soft. Add diced carrots, 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of coriander, and 4 cups of vegetable broth. Simmer until the carrots are tender, then puree with an immersion blender. Serve hot with a dollop of yogurt and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.

Argan Oil Care:

Store in a cool, dark place: Like other oils, culinary Argan oil should be stored in a cool, dark place to prevent it from going rancid. A pantry or kitchen cabinet away from direct sunlight is ideal.

Use quickly: Culinary Argan oil has a shorter shelf life than cosmetic Argan oil, so it's important to use it within 6-12 months of opening the bottle.

Keep the bottle sealed: After each use, make sure the bottle is sealed tightly to prevent air and moisture from getting in.

Avoid high temperatures: Culinary Argan oil should not be heated to high temperatures, as this can destroy its flavor and nutritional benefits. Instead, it's best used as a finishing oil or added to dishes after they are cooked.

Don't mix with other oils: Culinary Argan oil has a unique nutty flavor, and mixing it with other oils can dilute its flavor and aroma.

Add to salads, soups, and dips: Culinary Argan oil is delicious when used as a finishing oil on salads, soups, and dips. It can also be used as a dip for bread or drizzled on roasted vegetables.
